Quick reference for dry mounting.
Before starting always ensure that the gun is not loaded. I also recommend that you choose a location out of sight of neighbours. Concerned neighbours have been know to call the police after having seen someone waving a gun around, and I suspect that you can do without a visit from the armed response team.
Adopt the ready position.
Transfer weight onto to the front foot.
Keep the target in focus.
Slide the gun up the front of the shoulder and lock the comb under the cheek bone. Gun to head, not head to gun.
Bring shoulder forward to support rear of stock. Do not pull gun back.
Point with the front hand.
If you have snap caps (inert dummy cartridges) now is the time to use them.
Dry mount for five minutes, three times a week.
